Hello,
I am really glad to have found this forum!
I have a 1980 Lockley/Newport Surprise.
I am wondering how or where I can obtain a replacement swing keel for my boat. I capsized the boat in high winds the other day and lost the swing keel in the bay.
Does anyone know who may have made the keel for this boat or who could make one for me? Does anyone have the specs for the keel in case I need to have one built?
Also I have always had a leak in the boat somewhere. I drain varying amounts of water from the rear drain plug after a sail. I have replaced both drain plugs. I have sealed around all the fittings, around and under the bump rail, and inside the stowage cabin and I still take on some water inside the hull when I sail her. I have looked inside the trunk for the keel and it seems solid. I do not know how I would get sealant in there if I needed to. The space is really tight. I seem to take on more water in higher winds and rougher conditions in general.
