my neptune had this setup when I purchased it.

In Response To: Newport 24 cabin seats (tim kasper)

The port seat back haves short wood slats on one side. On the seat there is a 2 inch wide 1 inch thick strip of teak trim with wood cutouts that line up with the slats. the backrest fits into the teak trim with cutouts then the other side is supported with a fold out leg and the "front" rests on the teak box around the centerboard trunk.

This converts the port seat into a "double." The starboard seat doesn't have this set up though. I can send pics if you want.
