Mark's document resource on the Artic is excellent, and the written accounts were one of the major factors that convinced me to buy an Artic. I can say that none of the articles contain any "puffing"... they are pretty "spot on" and honest. The Artic is not fast, but is has classic lines, excellent accomodations for a vessel its' size, and IT IS well crafted and built like a tank.
I stand 6'4" and weigh about 210 lbs. The family of 4 (w/2 teenagers, yikes!) can withstand weeklong cruises, and if the cargo is only 2, the space is quite ample. There is plenty of storage and sufficient amenities to make almost any voyage enjoyable. Highly trailerable... a big plus. Mine came supplied with a Force 10 propane heater... nice on those cold San Francisco winter days.
If you can find one in decent condition, snatch it up. They are in short supply. I purchased mine in Victoria, BC, and had it trucked down to the Bay Area... still worth it. Most boats of similar size and price look, and are mosty built like, floating Clorox bottles.
You will not be sorry.
