Greetings to you, fellow Nimble owners and lovers of Nimble boats. I am very happy to be the new owner of Norm's well-cared-for Nimble 24, and look forward to benefiting from the wisdom of the contributors to this forum. Norm has been most kind in answering my many questions, and in helping me get to know some of the interesting aspects of this (in some ways) unusual and wonderful boat.

Lot’s of questions remain, and if this forum is anything like the West Wight Potter forum, new ones will pop up all the time, frequently reminding folks of contributions that have been made previously concerning the same topic.

Some of my first questions have to do with the design of the rudder for the Nimble 24. Norm’s (and now my) boat is an ’88 and it has a rudder and quite a number of other details which resemble the Nimble 24 depicted in the Good Old Boat review article quite closely. In particular, I have noticed what appears to be a design modification in later boats: the vertical, above-the-water, portion of the rudder looks stouter in those boats, and has notched “step” on the aft side. Was the N24 rudder design modified, moving away from the more slender and gently curving design, for the sake of function?
