for three years and it is hard to beat the sailing there. Solomons itself is a major boating hub in the area with numerous marinas, boatyards and resturants. It is a one day sail from Annapolis, St. Micheals, Tilghman Island and the lower Potomic. In the summer, the winds are generally light and there are biting flies. Depending on how much rain they get, there may be nasty little jellyfish that make swimming painful. If you are into fishing you can almost always catch Atlantic Croaker by bottom fishing. It is easy to troll for Striped Bass and Bluefish under sail.
My favorite place in the area (not counting Solomons because I lived there) is St Micheals. It is the home of a major museum and a VERY popular (crowded/expensive) cruising detination. If you can time your visit away from a weekend, it is a great place.
