Tongue ext.- KISS

Report: outside forum guidelines

The person I bought my Nimble 20 from used the KISS method for installing a tongue extension. He bought a length of tongue stock that was just small enough to fit inside the original tongue, removed the hitch from the original, and attached it to the extension, slid the extension inside the original, drilled a 5/8" hole through the two tongues about 18" behind the hitch, inserted a stainless steel pin, and wa-la, a telescoping tongue. To use the extension all that is necessary is to chock the trailer wheels, remove the locking pin/bolt, disconnect the trailer lights, attach the safety chain so that you do not accidentally pull the extension out to far (the safety chain on my trailer has been adjusted so as to line up the locking pin/bolt holes), pull forward, re-insert the locking pin/bolt, pull forward again to take the tension off the wheel chocks, remove the chocks, and back the boat into the water.
