for your helpful confirmation of my hunch for how to deal with this issue.
From your description, I assume the following:
- that the hole that you drilled going through the wood ALSO went through the metal of the mizzen mast, and
- that the same hole in both the mizzen mast and the wood - being large enough to accomodate the "T" - nut was therefore a slightly larger diameter than the machine screw, and thus
- that the machine screw does not so much "thread" into the hole in the mizzen as it does simply "occupy" it, while in its forward or engaged position.
Correct? (You may guess that my background has been more in the "arts" than in the "sciences", and so some of this has to be spelled out for me!)
Thanks, Stephen
