Stephen, I think you have the idea....If your not familiar with Tee nuts, they are theaded and have teeth that bite into the wood so the nut does not turn..I believe the machine screw I used was brass, 1/4" 20 threads per inch and 4" in length. The Tee nut was 3/4" in length. Try to find a Tee nut in stainless steel... If you have a West Marine Catalog look on page 575 of the 07 catalog. I understand the "arts and science" approach, I have two degrees in fine art and if you need a "visual" I will be glad to supply. But having spent many years in engineering I understand details and sometimes a scale drawing may not be enough... Hope this helps, Dickens
