Weather helm

I hope everyone is doing well. I had my Nimble 24 Tropical out in its first real breeze a couple of weekends ago (15-20mph) and I noticed some real signifcant weather helm even after taking in a reef. Is this a handling characteristic others have noticed in this kind of wind or does my rig/sails need some additional adjustments? As some of you may remember I purchased the boat a few months ago and I am still learning about her.

Also on the rudder is it normal for the kickup portion to only lower 3/4 of the way. I have tried messing with the rudder a few times including in the water and I cant seem to get it to come down all the way. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I am really enjoying reading the forum and hearing about other people's adventures.

All the best, Mike

On my 24 a reef solves the weather helm. Some centerboard -- norm ex-nimble new orleans -- 5/10/07 3:18p.m.
