if you've already got a hydraulic ram installed, just put in the rest of the system with a hydraulic pump to control the ram. Cost might be an issue, but I found a (fairly) inexpensive (and old) Navico on ebay. Just plumbed it right in with the exising hydraulic lines (a couple of tees). Works like a champ. It can all live "below-decks" that way also. I have since found a complete spare for all of the parts except the motor (pump), again on ebay.
