In Response To: knockdown of a N24 (shenanigans)

The first year I had my boat I was on Lake Champlain in late October(because I just got her in Sept.) and took a complete knock down. The main was in the water, I was standing on the face of the cockpit locker, water was spilling over the coaming, I couldn't release the main sheet because I had removed those pesky little upturned washers on the blocks and it was severely twisted. Since this was my first sail boat all this was coupled with a great deal of inexperience, scared the hell out of me but she popped right back up once she got over far enough to spill the wind out of the main and I could release the sheet.

I think I remember reading TBrewer saying they are designed self-righting -- norm ex-nimble new orleans -- 5/16/07 12:47p.m.
