Thank you to everyone who offered help regarding the weather helm. This past weekend I took the rudder/tiller/rudderboard completely apart. After inspecting all of the related parts I could find no reason other than design why the rudderboard would not come down to the point of being fully vertical. It appears that it was designed to only descend 3/4 of the way and the shape of the rudderboard prevents it from deploying any futher. I also noticed that the rudder has been substantially reinforced with steel plates along the sides. These do not affect the rudderboard in any way. has anyone seen or heard of this? Any thoughts on a source for replacement?
My Nimble 24 is the tropical and doesnt include a centerboard. Does anyone else have this model? As I learn about the boat I am anxious to hear about other people's projects and experiences.
All the best, Michael
