The photo attached to Mark's 6/11/07 5:36am posting shows a notch on the upper aft side of the rudder as it ascends.
The photo attached to Ed's 6/12/07 9:34am posting shows no similar notch on the upper, ascending aft side of the rudder.
I have wondered about this design difference, and have raised the question about it here on the forum.
I asked Ted Brewer about it, in an exchange that covered several points, and he did not address that particular point.
The rudder of my 1988 N24, formerly owned by Norm New Orleans, is similar to Ed's. My guess is that, what I am calling the "notch" design, came later.
This particular design issue should not in any way affect the weather helm issue. The notch certainly is visually distinctive. I have wondered if there was/is any practical aspect of it????
