cruising report, 2007.
again this summer we enjoyed turnstone, our n20, for an extended cruise in the pacific northwest. as time goes by we become more and more pleased with this great little boat.
we spent 6 weeks aboard, the 3 of us, with two dogs. 2 nights we tied up to a marine park dock, the rest at anchor. total distance sailed at a very leisurely pace, without much of a schedule or ambitions was probably close to 400 miles. and i mean sailed! we left with 8 gallons of fuel and returned with 4.
we carried 80% of our food at the time of launching, merely resupplying with fresh bread and veggies when good healthy stuff could be obtained. if organic food is a priority, there are only a few places up here where one can shop.
there were many memorable days. mostly light wind, off course, where our paddles and favorable currents contributed as much progress as a full suit of sails.
we crossed the strait of juan de fuca twice, with the return trip featuring 20-25 knot winds on the starboard quarter for the entire crossing. almost too much excitement!
as a side note i can mention that the travel lift scale in anacortes measured turnstone's dry weight as 2600 lbs, giving us a cruising weight of well over 3000 lbs.
hope you all are having your own adventures out there!
