Made a poor choice of anchorages in St Joesph Bay last week and ended up with a busted lower gudgeon. I guess all the smart guys have already beefed theirs up because I can see where that would have been a lot easier.
Anyone have ideas, specs or whatnot for getting this thing fixed? I'm starting to wonder if I'm not going to have to haul the whole boat down the the fabricator, which I'd prefer not to do (but I like the idea of a bad fit even less). If I'd started this project earlier it would have been easy to sister the straps with some properly bent stock, but now it's going to be more involved and the original angles are more difficult to determine. Looking at it now I suspect that the wooden spacer block was larger originally and perhaps was supposed to brace against the hull taking some of the stress.
The archives have a few tales on the subject but they seem to center around missing posts and photographs so I haven't been able to find much about what this looked like originally, or what a proper one would be like. The part is an RWO R0723, but the Web gives no indication that RWO remember making such a beast.
Thanks,
