i believe soft engine mounts need a flex coupling on the shaft.i installed one of these on a 3 cylinder yanmar for a friend of mine many years ago because the engine had soft mounts. it worked out ok. i don't have trouble like that because my nimble 30 express sailboat has an aquadrive with two cv universal joints and a thrust bbaring behind the yanmar 2gm 20 diesel, i am a retired diesel mechanic, and am open to questions about boats.
