Kodiak in Reverse

If I want the bow of the boat down current, I routinely will dock using reverse (stern into the current). It works well and you have pretty good control.

The one caution I would mention is that the big barn door rudder can exert a lot of pressure on the hydraulic steering if you are moderate to hard over with either a seaway or too much speed. I have heard some scary snapping and popping noises so I'm always cautious with reverse.
