Having lifted numerous sheets of 3/4" plywood (one at a time of course) while converting Tillie, and having lifted Tillies rudder (minus the extension which probably added an addition 15lbs) more ofter than I would have liked, I am speaking from experience when I respectfully disagree with Ed about the weight of a plywood rudder Vs the weight of the original. A full sheet of 3/4" plywood might be a few pounds the heavier, but by the time Mark transformes it into a rudder, I do not think there will be enough weight difference to worry about. Face it, Nimbles were not designed to compete in the America's Cup. They were designed for lazy day sailing, and romantic cruises on moon lit bays.
