I always "felt" that the Nimble 20 weighed something more than any of the various numbers bantered around in brochures and reviews. I based this upon such fabulously un-scientific factors such as how the boat felt while standing on a dock and shoving it a bit, pushing it around a bit on its trailer, and the considerable force it took to pump a bottle jack to raise the loaded trailer. None of this ever bothered me -- to the contrary, it tended to make me feel more secure about the boat in every respect. I am obviously not much into sail racing.
On one hand, a flat bottomed boat has many virtues; but it is going to pound a bit when sea conditions are just right. I'd much rather be aboard such a boat that is built stoutly, has some heft, and is not at all likely to oil-can under those conditions. 'Morgan Truce' never did. It's just one of the many things about this entire line of boats which inspires confidence.
Besides, I would be the last person to ever chide an old friend for being a few pounds over some ideal weight...
