FWIW, I pad the gunwale and a landing spot in the cockpit and bend over the motor, pull it up firm against my chest and straighten up, bending back enough to lift the prop up and over. Then I push the powerhead after it and wiggle until it looks like it will stay put long enough for me to climb up after it and lower it into the well. It's a straight lift with no twisting and the heavy part stays close, so probably not as much back strain as working it in and out of the well, but the sumbitch is heavy.

Yep, Jay Fitzgerald is making me wonder if I couldn't dispense with the beast entirely.
