As the very happy owner of Norm's well-tended former boat(1988, hull #3) I have to agree with both Gene (who sailed the 20) and Ed (whose photos of his 24 we all admire).
My wife and I just finished a three week long 'cruise' out of Round Lake harbor, between Lake Charlevoix and the (much!) bigger Lake Michigan (northeast of Traverse City). Even the heavier N24 can fairly be described as responsive. I am not sure the boat has ever been accused of fulfilling the implications of its "brand" name (Nimble), but once you appreciate the fact that you are sailing (and or sometimes motoring) a boat with some weight and heft, you find that she is a great safe-and-comfortable sailboat even if not the fastest.
I hope to post a summer trip summary here, reporting on my experience with a new Yamaha motor (the purchase of which was aided by prior postings on this site). I am still learning the fine art of turning the N24 in close-quarters at slow speeds (the rudder-drop-down helps!). No matter how challenging this process sometimes can be, I never find myself wishing I had bought a 'bleach-bottle' boat instead.
And when you do tie-up, there is the pleasure of having all the classic boat fans come and find your boat to admire up close her lines and construction.
