A reoccurring theme over the last many years is that Bush has kept us safe from attacks such as 9-11. The mantra can mean two entirely different things depending on the perspective from which one views it.
A goal of Al qaeda both stated and assumed is to do America harm because it has meddled in the affairs of Islamic nations. Al qaeda is truly David against Goliath and thus tactics are paramount to any success in waging such a war. It has also been stated clearly by al qaeda by both word and action that the front of their war effort is economic warfare.
In this it is obvious the successes they have achieved. We are embroiled in two war fronts with one so unpopular that the money has to be borrowed to fund it. The extent of the debt has weakened the dollar. Islamic nations have also increased the price for oil literally sucking the wealth from American and European nations. The American economy has moved toward a precipice of banking crisis on the one hand and runaway inflation on the other.
With the economic warfare having such great success, Al qaeda's goals are being achieved without further US attacks. If Al qaeda had desired to attack again within the US, there is little doubt targets could have been hit and no measure by Bush or any president could prevent all such efforts. Simply put, the economic warfare has been so successful, there has been no need.
