that the Second Amendment contains the initial clause "A well regulated militia being... ." Presumably, it's there for a reason and should be given meaning. Some gun owners start their thinking from the conclusion they want everybody to embrace, not from the question to be answered. To them it's always been a foregone conclusion everybody has a right to individually own and keep about any kind of gun they please. That view would be more understandable if that initial clause about a well-regulated militia weren't in the Amendment. So it's not suprising that it was a 5-4 decision. (From a hunter and gun owner).
