have an armed populace as an alternative to a standing army and to dissuade any attempt to return to a tyrannical rule.
Unless you plan on holding off the 1st Armored Division when they return to Fort Bliss with your .45 Cal, your pissing up a rope.
I agree that we should allow private ownership of firearms for various purposes. I don't agree on that handguns should be banned as they are in DC.
But to say that the society doesn't have a right to regulate what type of firearm an individual chooses to posess or is an unacceptable infringement on that individuals rights is too far off center.
