presently misinterpreted in the 1st Amendment. Look at where that little phrase is located, right between freedom of speech and freedom to assemble. Given the tenancy of the Founding fathers to gather in taverns to discuss the issues of the day I think it is obvious the 1st Amendment is referring to cider press or wine presses, not printing presses.
Either way, it's interesting that Freedom of religion, speech, press (wine or cider), assembly, and to petition the government was all lumped into one run-on sentence. At least the right to keep and bear arms was considered important enough to be given it's own amendment.
