What is hypocritical about strict construction and the 2nd amendment?
The 2nd amendment is pretty cut and dried. Many of the original framers of the Constitution demanded that it be included so as the citizenry could over-throw the government if it became too tyrannical -- BY FORMING MILITIAS!
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with deer hunting or home protection (although those are worthy reasons in and of themselves). It has everything to do with freedom. Can an armed populace take on the 3rd Army? No! But, I revert to my earlier statements that no US soldier would ever fire on American citizens, and if it did happen, you would have many soldiers break rank and take him out.
So, I don't think my deer-rifle will be effective against the US military, but it will be effective enough to have the military either turn against it's leadership or at least neutralize itself.
Now, we're not talking about a group of 15-20 angry nut-jobs. It would have to be a massive, grass-roots movement, possibly with state governments involved and threats of secession. The North almost lost the War Between the States for just this reason.
