About unemployment rates...EVERYBODY would like it to be lower wherever they might be...the reality is that every economy does have an "acceptable unemployment rate" and that differs from country to country. Canada's has always been 2 or 3 percentage points above the US (for the last 30 years anyway I'd bet)
In this country if the unemployment rate falls below that certain rate, pressure on wages climbs and inflation is sure to follow...then the interest rates are then jacked up to take care of that problem. All these moves are not productive. Better to have an acceptable unemployment rate and a smooth running econmy with not too many hick-ups along the way. Just what I think
