In Response To: Are the Santa Anas usually forecast? (Harry Gordon, WWP14 #234, Manatee, Mountain View, CA)

The winds happen in the fall and are accurately forcast....right down to the hour they will hit. I have always returned home if they were coming, though some people move to the other side of the island. If you don't get out in time boats break loose and slam into each other. This was a moderate event, as sometimes it gets bigger.
