I have seen some P-14/15 sailors remove the hanks from the jib and fly it attatched by a downhaul at the tack, halyard at the head and sheets at the clew. Many P-15 jibs have a wire luff and this can be kept tighter than the forstay allowing for a good sail set. Then you can launch and retrieve the sail from the cockpit. I use the simpler system Ashley mentions with the downhaul with no real problems.
