that has organized several cruises and race events. We try very hard to avoid using the term "group" or "club" or "event". The "meeting" so to speak ends at the ramp, and after that everone goes on there own, and tries to avoid answering questions like "When do WE leave?" "Who is leading?" Being from the "sue me state" of Florida, California is also bad, the only person the widow can sue are the organizers, so there had better not be any. I cringe when I read the capsize stories, as I know how close things can come, and how quickly things can turn tragic. Buddy system is great because it pulls responsibilties back to the two skippers. Pre lauch meeting to discuss a "potential" plan and safety thoughts about weather, tides, etc. Also sailboats are really easy to spot, so have boats watch out for those behind them. We always monitor channel 68 so most of the jabber is us. The radios automaticlly monitor 16 at the same time. Sometimes in the quest for adventure, we may buy a boat and head out way over our heads. Hopefully, before leaving the ramp, a discussion surrounding the inexperienced, and who is watching who will help protect the new sailors..I really enjoy reading about your sailing adventures.. All of them from Mexico to BC Canada, but lets do it safely..Thanks, Jack
