you've probably got your worst day of sailing behind you now!
i remember launching my sailboat from the trailer, forgetting to keep it tethered to the trailer and watched it float away. had to put on a life jacket and swim 50 yards or so to recover it.
once i anchored near a tiny sandbar in the middle of a lake, pulled out a lawn chair and sat on the sandbar, and kept an eye on my bright red mushroom anchor to be sure it held its position.
the anchor never moved but the boat looked a little farther away everytime i looked at it. finally dawned on me that the anchor line had become untied and the boat was drifting away.
luckily i was wearing my pfd so i could swim another 50 yards to recover my Potter.
best lesson we can all learn is to wear a pfd!
