My Potter has had a lot of ice in the cockpit

and no damage that I can tell. My scuppers are straight through as well so if they aren't plugged they won't hold standing water in the lines.

On my OTHER boat, a Sovereign 17, I used to have cockpit drains that had a little loop in each one's hose. The loop held water and I suppose that's what led to the hoses being cracked and leaking seawater into my bilge whenever I was sailing or motoring fast enough to raise the stern waterline. I replaced both of those with straight-through 1.5" drains with scuppers and even though my feet get wet when sailing fast, the water goes away quickly when we stop or tack.
