..and never had a problem but I don't really know the answer to your question. I always treated the gas, kept the tank full over the winter...but...I used to run it in the bucket once in awhile even over the winter. When I bought the Suzuki 2.5 hp I now have I asked what I should do and the dealer feller said what I'd been doing. Keep the tank full, run the carb dry, run it once in awhile over the off season in a tub.

My experience, also with my old Honda 150 scoot (just sold it this summer), is that this has worked. On my old Honda scoot I didn't even run the carb dry, never figured out how to shut the gas off..if it even could be shut off. Just went out and ran it every month or so. In the spring when it warmed up I'd just add some carb cleaner and start running it around. Seemed to work.
