In Response To: Replacing Keel Raising Cable (John Stacey)

John.... Performed this job twice - once to replace cable- then another time to replace worn blocks I failed to inspect. Inspect all the the blocks, especially the starboard rear one that takes all the load. I upgraded my rear blocks after seeing how quickly they wear. After consideration, I replaced the cable with factory cable - other have used high-tension line. I also purchased a spare cable and high-strength line I keep on board for emergency repairs. To remove the winch, you need small hands and tools (including needle nose pliers). Having another person is useful. Good luck. I am sure others will weigh in with their ideas. Regards Jerry.
