In Response To: You can leave the winch in place in the stern... (Eric, P-19, #1221 Austin, TX)

I replaced my steel cable with a high tension line last year. I replaced the blocks on the keel with a double block and went from a 3-1 to 4-1 now removabe raising system. It's easy to do, the steel cable can be cut off the winch with a dremmel tool. There are a couple of versions available on the various potter web pages I don't remember which one I used.

It's a cheap and easy modification that takes little time and is worth it to get the cable out of the way. Now, you want to talk about modifications, I'm having visions of removing the sink I have never used. I'm hoping someone else goes first and shows me what to do or not to do.
