In Response To: Replacing cable and winch on P19 (keith Sisterson)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WWPotter_Owners/files/E.%20Potter%20Modifications/

I replaced the ss cable with v12 line without removing the winch. I worked largley from modifications shown on the yahoo groups owners site. I added a capture clevis that allows the line to be unclipped when rigged and I decreased the effort needed to raise the board by adding a double pulley.

I went to the New England Ropes site and found the splice I needed to make to bind the thimble or eye into the line. All in all it went very well. You'll need someone to apply pressure on the line in the cabin as you load it onto the winch.

I also keep a spare v12 line on board in case of failure though there is so much v12 on the winch now that any break in the regularly used portion of the line could be compensated for from the winch drum in an emergency.

Good Luck!
