Its number 2657. A 2004 Potter 15. Very dirty. A broken mast base and top half of rudder. The rudder is like Moonbeams original except its not wood but the nylon type material. The top part (cheek blocks) is whats cracked. The story is it got washed up sideways along shore and the rudder cracked and the mast tangled in trees. Other than that and some hull scratches I cant find any damage. One day when I was cleaning Moonbeam a nice elderly guy stopped and asked a lot of questions. A few weeks later his Daughter stopped and said they had ordered a Potter 15. He liked my colors so he also ordered the Midwatch Blue with white deck. The boat is more basic so it does not have lights or roller furling . The motor is a Honda 2 horse that I did get started tonight. Seller thinks it was never used but tank smelled of old gas. It took a lot of pulling to get going. The Elderly Father passed away only getting to sail once as Im told. The Family sailed a few more times but enjoyed their Sunfish type boat better. So the Potter sat in a leaky garage since. The sails (Point Sails by the way) are dirty from garage leaks etc and I dont think they will totaly look like new. But of course they are still crinkly and stiff. I will probably try to get cleaned. It has a blue hatch cover and sail cover. Of course I now see the differences between moonbeam (2001) and the newer Potters. The better antislip on deck. The cockpit drain is relocated and bigger. The new mold for deck shows sharper angles. There is a swim ladder. The motor mount is fixed and not the adjustable like Moonbeams. There are cockpit seat hatches. There is a bow pulpit. And the mast has the hinged step. (needing replaced though) There is one reef point. Trailer has buddy bearings. Funny thing about this boat is I know it well. When they got it they brought to my house and we set it up together. Although I didnt steal it from them I did get it at a fair market price. I think I will keep it basic and resell at still a very fair price. As I said Im just having fun. Of course as I was backing it into my garage I heard Moonbeam muttering (what stinks in here?) Gypsy being younger and less refined was jumping around yelling (whos that whos that?) Anyway I have some fun days ahead and some parts to order. Anyone have one of the nylon type rudders for sale? I will post some pix later. Not bashing the folks I got it from but I have to mention because I thought it was cute. They must have lost the split rings to hold pins in place on side stays. In place of the split rings there were bobby pins. So the old joke of fixing anything with a bobby pin is true!!!! My Cafe Press coffee cup also came today. Very nice. Glad I got it.
