The fear of bloody mutiny keeps me from completely buying into the idea of crew. Swimming for an isolated island while maniacal crewmembers roar in laughter is just too painful to consider.
A plan is starting to come together, however. It sounds like my big battery will give me somewhere between 8 and 11 hours of autotiller power between charges. Using Chris' solar panel wattage information, it looks like a 6 watt panel would produce about .5 watts per hour of sunlight. Assuming that I'd get 8 to 10 hours of productive sunlight on a summer day, I could feed 4 to 5 amps into the battery daily. I think that would keep me topped up, unless I end up using Ray for more than 7 hours per day (which is very unlikely).
I've seen 6 watt folding solar panels for less than one boat buck ($100). Or, I could probably fit a small 6 watt rigid panel on my sliding hatch.
This has real possibilities. Thanks everyone. If anyone sees a problem with this scenario, please jump in.
