Hi Ted, I am a boat builder (hobby).I have been doing this for over 50 years! Answer e mail questions or telephone questions. Do not take the boat to them. Do not respond to scams. These are a real problem here in calif. If the buyer wants you to reveal any financial info it is a scam. Demand cash (Green)no casheirs checks or personal checks. I take the buyer on a sea trial only after they have agreed on a paper contract to the final price and include a deposit. If they do not like the sea trials I return them the deposit and it is over. Before any sea trials get everything on a paper contract. Nothing formal just write it up with date and all the details. Have both parties sign it. I always put a small statement under my signiture that says I agree to the above . And have them sign it. Price the boat a few hundred over your bottom line. This gives a little room on the price. Craigs list works well but is full of scamers BEWARE. Dennis Greenwood WWP 15 #1938 Which is now for sale on Craigs list in San Francisco CA.
