In Response To: Ice (pic) (Eric, WWP-19 and Zuma, Austin, TX)

We use standard Igloo marine coolers, one on the port side under the head of the v-berth, one in the companionway (doubles as a step-I took out the almost useless "steps", as soon as I have a project that needs some teak scraps, I'm gonna cut 'em up). We put 4-5 frozen gallon jugs of water in each, cram the forward one with frozen and cold foods (frozen is better), then pour a small bag of ice on top. The water jugs help keep the bag ice frozen, then we drink the water as the jugs warm up. The forward cooler is our "once a day", what we are using that day and additional libations go into the rear cooler. My father in laws "5 Day" cooler lasts about one extra day in the 95-100 degree heat we have in the summertime.
