I am testing the waters. I will place HMS-18 #2 (old #2) up for sale. I just couldn't get the wife interested in the old gal. SO, I bought a BEAUTIFUL 2008 WWP19 #1650 Solitude from Jim Ellsworth ( a great sailor and gentleman). It has everyhting now that I wanted in Old #2.
Old #2 is sitting in Arizona collecting dust. She has a year old paint job of Interlux Perfection (2 coats primer, 2 coats top), 3 coats of West Marine Bottom Paint, A sturdy trailer, a Honda 8hp twin that runs smooth, New Red and White Point sails with two trips to local lakes. The interior was gutted, with 2 coats of white epoxy, new boom vang, Most running lines replaced (the halyards are still in good shape). and great standing rigging. DryDeck in the cabin and cockpit. All screws into or through the hull are stainless with 5200 epoxy applied for sealent. I wanted to do a great job on finishing her up.
The interior needs to be finished. I didn't have the time to finish her. I bought new cushions from Home Depot to cover the forward berth and two quarter berths. I though it looked nice, my wife hated it. I had plans to take her to Mexico, Catalina, and beyond. Now those plans are for Solitude.
I paid $2750 from IM. She was a mess, I've had her for 14 months and hundreds of hours cleaning her up. She is ready for someone to take her sailing as is, or finish the interior. I planned to finisher her like Derek's Hamada #18 YOu can search the achive (HMS18 #2) to see the progress on her through the year. I had great advice and help from a lot of people.
I want her to go to someone who loves potters, thats why I'm placing this note here.
Email me if interested. Thanks and have a Happy 4th!
