Sounds like a great adventure, Buzz!
As Tim suggested, some sort of hearing protection might be a good idea, if only to make the trip more enjoyable. However, instead of something you wear, it would probably be a lot more comfortable to come up with some sort of sound deadening barrier at the transom. I think you would be very glad to have added that. It probably won't take much, since those motors are pretty darn quiet to begin with.
The mileage on those Honda 2's is incredible, but it would still be good to have a well-thought out foolproof method of refueling even while tossing about in rough chop (powerboat wakes) so that you don't need to worry about losing your gas caps, spilling fuel, etc.
