and I think most of the time I'd be inclined to run one motor through a tank of fuel. Not the motor's tank but the 2 1/2 gallon (or whatever size you have). And I'd keep two different tanks and never fill them both at the same source. I'd alternate them. That way, if you happen to get a bad batch of fuel, only one motor and tank is affected and if need be then you can switch to the other set.
One time I bought gas at a station in Wyoming. While fueling, there was a tanker adding gas to the station tanks. I didn't think much of it at the time, but a few miles later my truck started running REALLY poorly. I figure the tanker must've stirred up sediment or stale fuel in the station tanks.
Regarding the c/b, if you plan to leave the trunk in the boat, you might as well keep the c/b in it to help smooth out the rolling. Makes a handy depth sounder and could maybe help protect the outboards' props.
