Take a Honda 2 horse outboard and run it (full throttle) out of water for about an hour. You may as well go have a beer and trim your toe nails. If the motor is still running an hour later, assume that it is air cooled, or at least immune to seizures!
OK I have owned a 1985 2hp with a water pump and sliding throttle. It was white/red/blue. I assume that all silver Honda 2's are air cooled and have a twist grip throttle.
PS I switched to Suzuki in 2009; Good: about the same weight, very quiet, and runs better at high altitude. Bad: Tilt mechanism needs to be modified by removing a plastic plate, but it's pretty easy. Also, Suzuki is water cooled, but I don't mind this on a hot summer day.
