There is no jiffy line at the mast. The one at the leach is just a standard arrangement: one end secured at the boom, the line routed up through the cringle, then back down to a cheek block on the opposite side of the boom, then forward to a jamcleat. Ideally, I would have a second jiffy line for the second reef cringle, which is half way up the leach, but after I've made the first reef, there is enough loose line to feed it through the upper cringle and back to put in a second reef.
The boom tiepoint and cheeckblock should be located so that the jiffy reef line is pulling aft at approximately a 45 degree angle when the sail is reefed. The jiffy reef line then becomes the outhaul.
