I just washed and repaired the blue and white lateen sail yesterday, so it was readily at hand to be measured. The lower reef cringle is 4 ft above the boom (about 50 inches from the clew). The upper cringle is halfway along the leech, so it reduces sail area by 50%. I think the smaller orange and white sail is proportionately similar.
On a lateen sail, the leech cringle needs to be about twice as high as what would be appropriate on a similar Marconi main because the reefed area is triangular instead of trapezoidal. On a mainsail, the reef line is approximately parallel to the boom. On a Larry-Brown-reefed lateen sail, the reef lines radiate from the tack.
In this old photo, Manatee appears to have a 50% reef and is still moving well in her "lateenaker" mode.
In the photo below, the Sunfish sail has a single reef.
