IIRC my board weighed about 250lbs. I'd hate to not have that.....

..ballast under sail. When the boards raised it does seem to be a handicap to have all that weight up high. If a guy could construct a board that was powerful enough to support a lot weight down low I can't see but what it would be an improvement in both sailing and board raised. It's the making it that would take some serious thought and engineering IMHO.
