All of your suggestions are well thought out, although the idea of a fixed keel is a no go on the west coast of Florida where we normally sail over 1 foot flats and shoals with impunity. But I really like the idea of contacting Larry Brown, since he's already experimented with a light board on a P-19. I didn't know that. Thanks very much to all who contributed! The owner of the P-19 is currently thinking of a wooden/steel combo encapsulated in glass or epoxy.
