One of our webmasters is Mike Westfield. Mike used to sail with the Potter Yachters and spent a lot of time trying to teach me how to sail. This was fun because besides being a very experienced and adventurous sailor he had a quick and often outrageous sense of humor. He also had a store of nautical sayings among which was "tiller to trouble." This means that if your boat is about to hit the rocks on the port side or is heeling too far to port push or pull the tiller to port, ie toward the trouble. Or to starboard if that is the direction of the trouble. Another one Mike liked to remind us with is "never approach a dock faster than you want to hit it."
