Gretchen's #292 is particularly interesting because it is apparently a transition model between the "first generation" and "second generation" of the U.S. gunter rigged Potter. Gretchen's Potter has the sliding hatch and window design of the second generation but retains the cabin interior, centerboard trunk, one-piece sweptback cabin/cockpit sides, and companionway bulkhead of the earlier gunters like my #234. I like the unlined cabin and the footwell of our boats because there is a little more room inside and it is easy to work on, but I wish mine had the sliding hatch for easier entry and exit. With the sweptback cabin sides of the gunter rigs, I have never felt a need for cockpit rails.
